Ultrasound has many therapeutic benefits in the world of managing muscle pain and it has been used by physiotherapists for many decades now. The way that we use it here at Hornsby Physio & Chiro refers to the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and pain. The ultrasound tool works by vibrating a small crystal after an electrical charge is applied and this creates waves that are emitted from the device. We will then apply the device in direct contact with your skin over the painful area, or area of tissue damage. The continuous waves will increase blood flow to the targeted area, and this offers benefits for our clients. Research has confirmed that ultrasound, in combination with other manual therapy techniques can significantly minimise pain and encourage recovery. We use this technique because our principles are backed by the knowledge and experience of established medical professionals.
